It started with a wish...
It was in 2022, the Wishbound Foundation was officially formed with a commitment to seniors, to bring joy, comfort, and connection to seniors through heartfelt, personalized cards that remind them they are loved, valued, and remembered. Our mission is to brighten their days, uplift their spirits, and combat feelings of loneliness by fostering meaningful, intergenerational bonds through the simple but powerful gesture of a handwritten card.
We are a volunteer operated organization and rely on the generosity and kindness of others to make our mutual vision a reality.
What we do
Throughout every year, our volunteers come together to spread joy to seniors through a beautiful tradition of handwritten cards. The process starts with volunteers gathering to brainstorm uplifting messages, often focusing on themes like warmth, companionship, and seasonal cheer. They then dive into the creative work of writing and decorating each card by hand, infusing it with personal touches—thoughtful drawings, quotes, or even small crafts. Each card is designed to bring a smile and let our seniors know they're thought of and appreciated.
Once the cards are ready, we coordinate with local senior centers, assisted living facilities, and individual care providers to ensure the cards reach as many seniors as possible. For isolated seniors who may not have family nearby, these cards offer a meaningful connection. Our volunteers work closely with staff at these facilities to make sure each senior receives a card in person or by mail, especially around holidays when feelings of loneliness may be more pronounced.
This initiative not only brightens the day of our seniors but also fosters a sense of community among our volunteers, reminding everyone of the power of small, heartfelt gestures.
