Help us Make Cards for Seniors

1. Gather Supplies

Cards

Homemade Card Supply ideas:

  • Cardstock
  • Printer paper
  • Stickers
  • Magazine cutouts (letters, words or pictures)

Store-bought cards ideas:

  • Preprinted cards may be purchased in bulk or individually
  • Blank inside or printed messages

Pens, pencils, crayons, paints, felt pens, ink

Use anything you have to create a masterpiece or write a sweet note.

(Please no glitter or things that will fall off or make a mess)

Envelopes

Envelopes are not required.  If your card is in an envelope, please don't seal it

2. Address the Card

Here are some examples you can use if you don't know the recipient's name:

Dear Friend,

To Someone Special,

Dear Kind Person,

Hello Friend,

Return Address

Please do not write a return address on the individual cards or envelopes.  It is ok to write your return address on the main envelope that is sent to Wishbound.

Leave Envelopes Open

Please leave card envelopes open.  We look at each card before delivering to seniors to make sure they are appropriate and safe.

3. Write in the Card

Front of Card

If you are making your own card, try a drawing on the front with words like "Happy Holidays" or "Happy Birthday" or "Thinking of You"

Remember to write in clear large font so elderly people can read with ease.

Inside of Card

  • Write a kind and positive message or note
  • You can share information about yourself like favorite pets, hobbies, books, sports, etc.)
  • Use favorite inspirational quotes
  • Quotes or affirmations
  • Short poems
  • Short story
  • Create drawings or other art
  • Jokes and puns are ok if clean

Examples to write in cards:

  • "Peace and Joy to you this holiday season"
  • "Thinking warmly of you this holiday season, wishing your extra comfort, joy and hope"
  • "Happy Holidays my friend"

Inspirational Quotes

  • “You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream"  C.S. Lewis
  •  "Nothing is impossible. The word itself says 'I'm possible!'"  — Audrey Hepburn
  • “Everything you can imagine is real.”―Pablo Picasso
  • “Whatever you are, be a good one.” ―Abraham Lincoln
  • “Everyone has inside them a piece of good news. The good news is you don’t know how great you can be! How much you can love! What you can accomplish! And what your potential is.” ―Anne Frank
